Nap Ford Community School strives to provide educational programs and services with the belief that all students can learn and be successful members of society. Our unique whole child approach to learning which addresses the academic, physical and social emotional needs of each student to fosters academic success and wellness to empower students to maximize their overall potential. Last school year, we earned a failing letter grade under the State of Florida’s School A+ Plan. This is an unacceptable outcome for us. We are an organization with the expectation of producing students with exceptional academic skills. While, our data shows that our writing scores and lack of growth in reading significantly impacted our overall letter grade, it is also important to add that the vast majority of our students had significant academic gains across all subject areas. In fact, more than 40% of our students scored at the highest possible levels on the state test. Based on our areas of need, we have put specific systems and measures into place in order to increase the achievement of our students. We believe that strengthening our instructional program in those areas will improve the academic progress of our students. Planning began over the summer, during which our newly hired Director of Teaching and Learning met with the instructional team to identify and develop curriculum resources and instructional practices to best meet the needs of our Nap Ford children. New materials were ordered to address the rigor of the Florida Standards and instructional coaching of teachers is being consistently implemented to ensure that instruction is effective and standards based. Our teachers, students and parents are committed to ensuring educational excellence across all grade levels and are pleased with the 2014-2015 instructional focus plans.
